Description:
The Exeter Hip: 40 Years of Innovation in Total Hip Arthroplasty is a large professional volume on the Exeter hip, one of the most widely used cemented hip replacements in the world. It was written by the Exeter team that developed and studied it, including the surgeon Robin Ling, who designed it with the engineer Clive Lee at the University of Exeter. The stem was first implanted in 1970, and by the end of 2010 more than a million operations had been done. The book marks forty years of the implant and records the history, design thinking and clinical experience behind it. It is aimed at orthopaedic surgeons, trainees, researchers and anyone interested in medical device history. It is a specialist text, not a guide for patients. A second edition, “50 Years of Innovation”, appeared in 2020, so this is the original 2010 edition. This copy is in good condition.
